CTI Provides SonarWiz.MAP Training at Alaska Department of Fish and Game

Several members of the Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADFG) completed an informative two-day raining class held April 29–30, 2006 in Juneau, Alaska. Chesapeake Technology, Inc. (CTI) presented the training designed to increase the participant’s proficiency in using CTI’s SonarWiz.MAP mosaicking software.

“I consider the event a total success,” said John Gann, CTI’s Vice President of Software Development and facilitator at the event. “I believe that the participants left with a enhanced working knowledge of how SonarWiz.MAP’s features can be utilized for real-time data collection, production of real-time mosaics in the field and for post-processing of data.”

A combination of classroom training and on-the-water experience was designed for the participants. The classroom training focused on software setup, mission planning, real-time mosaicking, survey execution and post-processing. The class explored the various processing and reporting features of SonarWiz.MAP.

“This ADFG group as particularly keen on the power and friendliness of the SonarWiz.MAP software, said Gann. “Feedback like we received from the ADFG participants helps confirm that the effort we have put into SonarWiz.MAP to make it an easy to use and powerful application has been successful.”

The real-time training was conducted aboard the R/V Medeia skippered by Russell Sandstrom. Russell, in addition to his shipboard duties also leads a local salsa band called Salsa Borealis.

The two-day training event was attended by several individuals from the ADFG including Kyle Hebert, Gretechen Bishop, Al Tingley, Chris Siddon, Jan Rumble, John Clark, Russel Sandstrom, R. Gottwald and R.Frampton. Rob Williamson of Marine Sonic Technology, Ltd. also participated in the event.
